Heavy rain and cool breezes: Santa Ponsa on September 9, 2025

A wet day awaits Santa Ponsa on September 9. Heavy rain, 100% cloud cover, and fresh air make the late summer short and wet.

Rainy night and wet morning: caution on the promenade

If you woke up early today at Playa de Santa Ponsa, you have probably heard the patter: a weather shift that briefly puts late summer on pause. The forecast is clear — 100% cloud cover and a nearly 100% chance of rain mean heavy showers, at times even stronger.

How the day feels

Temperature-wise, the day swings between a warm late-summer breeze and a fresh gust: The low temperatures are just under 20 °C (about 19.9 °C), the highs reach around 27.1 °C. It still sounds like summer, but it feels different: the perceived temperatures feel a bit warmer in the morning and drop noticeably in the afternoon when the rain begins. In short – don't forget the jacket, even if the sun breaks through from time to time.

Air, wind and rain – the technical data

Air pressure is about 1014 hPa, humidity around 76% high. The wind blows from the southeast (approximately 140°) at an average of 9.6 m/s; gusts of up to 11.2 m/s are possible. Over short distances, especially along the promenade and on open terrain, such gusts can push quite a bit of water against the façade.

What you should know now

For strolls, rubber boots or sturdy shoes are useful, the promenade may be flooded in places. If you're cycling to Cala today, bring rain gear and functional protection — and plan plenty of time. On the main road toward Andratx, puddle formation is common in such situations; drivers should reduce speed.

Looking across the neighborhood, I heard this morning an elderly lady at the bakery on Plaça say that rain is good for the earth, but the plants have had enough sun already. Such voices show that the rain on the island arrives less spectacular than necessary, but more truly.

In short: September 9 brings Santa Ponsa a clear hint of autumn. If you have outdoor appointments, it's better to reschedule or bring a Plan B. We'll keep you posted if storms or local floods intensify.
