When I walk along the harbor of Puerto Portals in the evening, you sometimes still hear stories about Jörg Dahlmann. The 65-year-old, who has lived on Mallorca for years, now has another TV adventure ahead of him: from 23 October he moves into the new season of 'The Great Celebrity Penance' – this time not as a commentator, but as a contestant.

Why now?

Some of us see in this the next media shift of a man who has rebuilt his life here on the island. After his time as a sports commentator, which ended after controversial remarks, Dahlmann has embarked on several re-starts: reality formats, DJ gigs at private parties and a fairly visible everyday life in lounges and harbor bars. Whether the goal is absolution or merely entertainment remains something he will probably reveal only in the camp itself.

In Puerto Portals, he is known: with partner Claudia Pöhlmann, occasionally a DJ at events, often at a Cortado at a small kiosk or chatting with neighbors about the marina. For many here, Dahlmann is a kind of island figure -- loud, confident, sometimes with a wink. His ability to reinvent himself has opened many doors, but has also drawn critics.

Whether the participation is seen as self-therapy, entertainment or a calculated PR move remains open. One thing is certain: Mallorca continues to offer him retreat and stage at once. And if the camp gives him no peace, you might find him in a few months again at the bar, discussing football, the TV world and second chances with guests.
