Ma-10 between Sóller and Mirador de Ses Barques closed until 8:00 PM

If you were planning to head to the Serra de Tramuntana this afternoon, it's best to replan briefly. On the stretch from Sóller up to Mirador de Ses Barques, the Ma-10 is completely closed until around 8:00 PM. The reason is not an accident, but the traditional hill climb Pujada al Puig Major — this year in its 62nd edition.

Organizers expect more than 100 participants, who will wind up the steep bends with sports cars and classic cars. You can tell immediately: engine rumble instead of birds chirping, smell of oil instead of pine scent. I stood briefly at the edge of town around 11:15 AM and could see drivers making final adjustments to their cars — with badges, handmade license plates, and lots of coffee.

Public transport and detours

Important: The TIB bus line cannot serve the affected stretch either. Passengers should expect delays or use alternative connections. Those arriving from Palma or Port de Sóller should follow the traffic advisories; detour routes are signposted on site. The police and route spokespeople emphasize that emergency routes remain clear.

For drivers, parking along the edge of towns is scarce. By around 12:30 PM, several residents were already standing with signs directing visitors to temporary parking areas. Expect pedestrians, photographers with tripods, and occasional stops when a rally car takes a bend a little too tightly.

What residents and visitors should know

The Mirador itself is hard to reach today. If you want to go for breakfast, plan for an extra 20–30 minutes. Some cafés in Sóller have opened their terraces and will serve later again; others temporarily close due to the crowds. A good tip: If you don't need a route with a view of Puig Major, feel free to use the lower coastal areas or postpone the trip until tomorrow.

We want a safe race and as little trouble for residents as possible, said a helper standing at the barrier. Organizers and police are working together, but disturbances and traffic disruptions cannot be completely avoided.

Short and practical

  • Ma-10 route (Sóller → Mirador de ses Barques): closed until around 8:00 PM.
  • TIB bus lines: suspended or diverted in the area.
  • Emergency and response vehicles have priority.
  • Parking: only in designated areas, follow the marshals.

If you're traveling around the island today: stay calm, head out a little earlier, and perhaps enjoy the views on foot. And if you happen to be along the route — listen closely when an old V8 roars to life. Mallorca still has a bit of festival atmosphere and small-town charm.
