One last surge of summer until the weekend—starting Monday, an Atlantic low will bring clouds, rain and a few degrees cooler. Here's what you need to know.
A Brief Late Summer — Then Significantly Cooler
\nThe island still treats us to a few warm days: Until the weekend, meteorologists on Mallorca expect high temperatures around 28 to 32 degrees. Anyone who walked the Passeig Marítimo yesterday evening could still feel it — T-shirts, ice cream trucks and open café terraces. The difference: in the mornings there are now often light haze over the sea.
\n\nWhere is the low heading?
\nBehind the calm spell lies an Atlantic low-pressure system approaching from the northwest over Spain. According to current models, the first outbreaks should bring clouds to Mallorca as early as Sunday. On Monday, with the start of astronomical autumn around 19:19, the low is expected to bring the larger weather shift: rainfall and a temperature drop of about 3–4 degrees are possible.
\n\nA spokesman for the Spanish weather service AEMET emphasizes, however: Forecasts for a week have uncertainties. Just like a capricious cafe-goer, things can still change — the intensity and exact track of the low are not set in stone.
\n\nWhat does that mean practically for everyday life?
\nRain does not automatically mean gusts. In many places there will likely be showers and windier periods. On the mountain routes of the Serra, you should expect fog early in the morning, and boat owners should take the short weather warning seriously. So pack a light jacket if you head out in the morning — especially on the coast, such as in Portixol or at Playa de Palma, you first notice the cooling.
\n\nA small consolation: Such shifts often bring back the scent of wet streets and somewhat cleaner air. And after a few days of rain it can become friendlier again — as the low moves on. Until then: check the weather app, close windows, and still make the most of the last warm afternoons.
\n\nWe keep an eye on the development and will report as soon as the models give clearer signals. For current warnings and measurements, it is advisable to follow the AEMET notices.
