Underwear Run in Bunyola: Fun, Music, and a Bit of Madness

In Bunyola, today kicks off the annual underwear run—a short, loud, and very colorful dash through the streets, followed by a party on the village square.

When the streets get bolder: Underwear Run in Bunyola

This evening the quiet mountain village of Bunyola once again transforms into a small stage for crazy costumes and good vibes. Those around 19:00 near the Plaça can witness an unusual spectacle: people jog, tiptoe, or stroll in mostly scant clothing along a roughly one-kilometer loop through the village.

Not a competition, but a wink

It's not about record times. Rather, the organizers are looking for the most original, boldest, or simply funniest look. I was there last year and can confirm: the audience laughs a lot, claps loudly, and takes photos (of course with consent). The route typically runs through the Carrer Major and ends again at the village square, where the prize ceremony takes place.

The start is exactly at 7:00 PM, arriving from 6:30 PM is worth it – those who still want to sign up can usually do so right on site. The rules are simple: one kilometer, fun and respect. Organizers emphasize that out of consideration for families and children a more subdued tone is maintained at certain points.

Afterwards: Open-air party with live music

Directly after the run the open-air party on the village square kicks off. Local bands, a DJ and a few stalls with drinks ensure that the evening doesn't end anytime soon. Last year the music went on late, with people dancing barefoot on cobblestones — a typical scene here in September when the evenings are still warm.

Practical tip: wear sturdy shoes for the route (flip-flops are tempting but impractical), bring a towel or a jacket for later and remember an ID in case checks take place. For everyone who doesn't want to run: good viewing spots and atmosphere are guaranteed.

Whoever wants to participate should choose relaxed, creative outfits and keep the evening's motto in mind: fun, entertainment and community. For locals and guests this is a lovely, somewhat quirky evening that shows how lively village culture can be on Mallorca.

Weather: For tonight dry, warm weather is forecast — an advantage for any kind of run and celebration. So: come by, laugh together and look out for one another.
