Two more sunny days, then a multi-day rain period arrives. Temperatures remain mild – but the nights have become cool.
More rain on the way: Plan your week accordingly
If you want to get to the beach quickly today: hurry up. The next two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) will bring sunshine again and pleasant 24–26 °C — enough time for one last walk on the Playa de Palma or a coffee in Santa Catalina. From Thursday the weather pattern changes noticeably: Aemet indicates a layer of moister air masses that will persist for several days.
How serious is the situation?
No panic, but not a blue-sky miracle either: persistent showers are expected, which can be heavy in places. Especially on the west and southwest coast stronger rain and isolated thunderstorms can be expected. Model runs suggest the episode could last until early next week — with breaks that are quickly interrupted by new downpours.
Temperatures: mild but unsettled
Interestingly, the air remains relatively warm. Daytime values are expected to drop only slightly and hover around 24–25 °C. Nights don't spare us, however: in mountainous regions like Lluc the thermometer has already fallen to around 10 °C, while coastal spots like Cabrera still report double-digit, considerably milder nights.
What does this mean for excursions and the sea?
Those planning hikes or day trips should stay flexible: mornings can still be dry, and showers may fall unexpectedly in the afternoons. The sea temperature remains warm enough for swimming — however rougher seas on some days will make bathing less enjoyable. Pay particular attention to local beach warnings about waves and currents.
Some concern for agriculture — and relief
After a dry summer, rain is not only inconvenient but also important. Fields and drinking-water reservoirs need refilling. Still, there can be short-term local issues — flooded roads, slippery paths, or cancelled outdoor events. Tip from here: put wellies in the trunk and don't forget an umbrella.
I'll check the coast again on Thursday morning and report if anything changes. Until then: make use of the two sunny days — and start planning for the wetter ones.
