Since September 11 there is a new EMT city line in Palma. The 30 will run between the Congress Palace and the large parking lot near the Marivent Palace. When you sit on a windy morning along the Passeig and look at the boats in the harbor, you immediately notice the small change: more buses, less crowding at the stops.

What this means for commuters and tourists

The new line stops, among others, at the Auditorium and at Parc de la Mar – exactly where many people get on and off. According to the timetable, the 30 runs during the day at a 20-minute cadence. In combination with the existing Line 1, there is now a bus every ten minutes along the Paseo Marítimo. For all who often commute between the city center, harbor and the parking lots, this is noticeably convenient.

Early in the morning I saw a woman with a shopping trolley, looking relieved: Finally no more endless waiting. A taxi driver on the edge smiled and shook his head: Crazy how quickly things change. Such small voices from everyday life show that the measure makes sense not only on paper.

Practical notes

The Line 30 complements; it does not replace it. Tickets and passes remain valid as usual — the EMT app lists the new connections. Those who park at the large Marivent Parking Lot can now get into the city more often and more relaxed, without having to search for a taxi for long. In the evenings and on weekends, the extra frequency could prove particularly useful when concerts at the Auditorium end or larger events at the Congress take place.

A small note: Those who enjoy walking or cycling along the Paseo Marítimo will still find space. It is not a replacement for relaxed strolling, but a sensible addition to everyday life — for residents, shopkeepers and guests alike.

Better service, but questions remain

Whether the new line will contribute to traffic calming in the long term depends on several factors: timetable stability, passenger numbers and connections. First impressions are positive, however. If the weather cooperates and the sun shines over the cathedral, you quickly notice: more buses can bring a small, but real relief.

My tip: If you are waiting at one of the stops soon, you should check the departure times in the EMT app — especially on holidays or during harbor events. All in all, a small, practical change that makes the daily journey through Palma a bit smoother.
