This weekend on Mallorca, fish, art, and wine mingle: In Cala Ratjada, golden mackerel sizzles; Sa Pobla invites to Art Night — with a few disruptions due to weather and organization.
Fish, Brushes, and Pintxos: Weekend Plan on the Island
\nAs the days grow shorter, Mallorca's streets stay busy anyway. This weekend again features autumn fairs and late-evening excursions: in Cala Ratjada everything revolves around golden mackerel, in Sa Pobla around art, drinks, and tapas — and a few events were moved due to the weather forecast. That's autumn here: bring a sun hat, but also an umbrella.
\n\nCala Ratjada: Golden Mackerel Festival and Tapas Night
\nTonight the traditional Tapas Night at the harbor starts in Cala Ratjada, already kicking off around 7:00 PM along Passeig de Baix. The main day is Sunday: about 1,700 kilograms of golden mackerel will be prepared — grilled, fried, or as carpaccio, all in. The mood is familial; locals set up tables, children run between stalls and the enticing fish scents. Tip: arrive early, otherwise the Paseo Marítimo gets tight; parking is limited, many take the bus or come by bike.
\n\nSa Pobla: Art i Copes with Exhibitions and Small Bites
\nSa Pobla invites this evening to the art night Art i Copes. From 6:30 PM galleries open around Plaça Major, and in some bars there are tapas and local wines — a nice mix of strolling and culture. Important: The Saturday art market was cancelled at short notice; organizers will post updates on the town hall's website. If you're still in the mood for art, you'll find several pop-up exhibitions along Carrer Sant Antoni.
\n\nPostponements in Santanyí and Quick Notes
\nBecause of the uncertain weather, the art night in Santanyí has been moved to next Friday. Pity, but sensible: no one wants a vernissage in the rain. A note for visitors: for autumn dates like these, it's worth checking local announcements or our notice board — we constantly collect updates on cancelled or rescheduled markets there.
\n\nShort and to the point:
\n- Cala Ratjada: Tapas Night today from 7:00 PM, golden mackerel event on Sunday (about 1,700 kg of fish).
\n- Sa Pobla: Art night Art i Copes this evening; Saturday's art market cancelled.
\n- Santanyí: Art night postponed to next Friday.
How to Make the Weekend Best
\nMy tip: Plan your arrival and return, bring a light jacket, and try at least two stalls — the charm of these festivals often lies in the small discoveries: a new winemaker, an artist with unusual prints, or a tapas combination that stays on your palate for weeks. If you take photos, feel free to share them with the community — the best spots fill up quickly.
\n\nFor an up-to-date overview with times and possible changes, check our noticeboard or the municipalities' websites. Have fun this weekend — and yes, bring your hunger.
