Night Run Through Palma: Running Under Lanterns and Stars

\n

On Saturday, September 26, 2025, Palma will again come alive in the evening: The Cursa Nocturna sa Murada runs along the old city walls and circles the historic old town. If you have never joined a run through narrow streets and past illuminated windows, you should try it. It has something magical about it, even if the course isn't exactly alpine terrain.

Routes for Everyone – From Kids to Ambitious Runners

\n

This year the organizers offer three options: a short solidarity lap of about 1.6 kilometers (perfect for children and families), a 5-kilometer course, and a 10-kilometer variant. The start fees for the short lap are donated to local foundations, meaning: participate and do something good at the same time. Children are explicitly welcome; I've already seen parents with headlamps and squeaky shoes.

Practical Information for Participants and Spectators

\n

Start time: probably from 8:30 p.m. (please check the organizers’ details shortly before the start). The meeting point is often near Passeig des Born — runners and spectators gather there; it smells of coffee and roasted almonds when the stalls are still open. Water stations are set up along the course, and there is medical support on the route.

Important: Those who want to join on short notice can still register online — for a small additional fee for last-minute tickets. Parking in the city center is scarce on such evenings; it’s advisable to arrive by bus, bike, or on foot. For spectators, the old town is a good destination; you can always find a corner along the wall from which you can watch the runners.

Atmosphere, Safety, and a Tip

\n

In the evening the city feels different: lights on the walls, music here and there, scattered groups cheering the runners. The event has a family-friendly feel — not as hectic as large city races, more cozy and local. Dress warmly, it often cools noticeably after sunset, and bring a small flashlight if you're accompanying someone.

For anyone wanting to take photos, it’s best to arrive early before the start: the lighting mood is at its best then. And for everyone running — have fun, take care of yourself, and enjoy the loop around old Palma!
