In Palma, a woman was arrested who allegedly offered cosmetic treatments without authorization. One client had to be admitted for complications.
Illegal Filler Treatment with Serious Consequences
\nIn the early Tuesday morning, heavy traffic on Avinguda Jaime III—and in the middle of it a story you hear here so often, yet must not dismiss as a neighborhood rumor: a woman was arrested in Palma after a cosmetic treatment apparently went badly awry.
\nWhat exactly is said to have happened
\nAccording to police, the suspect had rented space in a small studio and offered her services via Instagram and Messenger. One patient had hyaluronic acid injected into the chin area. Shortly after, the woman complained of severe pain; the skin discolored and initial signs of necrosis appeared.
\nThe injured person was taken to the emergency department, reportedly to Son Espases Hospital. There doctors had to intervene urgently. Whether lasting damage will remain is still being investigated.
\nWhy the investigators intervened
\nThe arrestee, according to investigators, originally from Romania, apparently did not have a medical license. She is now being investigated for bodily harm and unauthorized practice. The officers secured documents and are currently interviewing witnesses and other potential victims.
\nA problem we see more often
\nAnyone looking for cheap offers on the island knows the lure: quick corrections, low prices, weekend appointments. But cosmetic injections are medical procedures. When performed incorrectly, they can be life-threatening – not only due to infections but also due to circulatory problems or allergic reactions.
\nA small personal tip: If someone offers treatments exclusively via private message and does not show clinic equipment or credentials, better step back. Ask questions, demand references, and in case of doubt go to a GP or a certified institute.
\nWhat remains now
\nThe police are continuing the investigations. For the affected person, medical follow-up is ongoing; for the city, it's another example of why controls are important. In Palma you'll surely hear more about similar cases in the coming days—and perhaps more people will realize that beauty offers can sound gentler than they are.
\nI was briefly at the market in Santa Catalina yesterday afternoon and noticed how unsettled neighbors are about it. Such incidents affect us all.
