This evening you can choose between mountain air and sea breeze: in Esporles and Ses Salines, local artists open their doors—live music, street stalls, and sweet temptations included.
Art Night in the Mountains or by the Sea? Today the choice is hard
When I stroll through Esporles in the early evening, it smells of pine resin and freshly baked ensaimadas. At 6:00 PM the local Long Night of Art starts in the small town center, right on the Paseo, where the cobblestones still carry stories from old times. The streets are narrow, the lights warm, and you meet more locals than tourists – that’s what makes the evening special.
Esporles: Village charm meets creativity
In Esporles galleries, studios and even private homes open their doors. Painting, ceramics, photography – all side by side. On Plaça del Pont a small concert is expected, unplugged to start around 8:30 PM. The mood? Casual. Some visitors come straight from work, others bring kids. Tip: Parking can be found on the edge of town, followed by a 10–15 minute walk through the Tramuntana air. And if the temperature at 7:00 PM is still a pleasant 18 °C, bring a light jacket anyway – the mountains cool quickly.
Ses Salines: 80 exhibitions, live music and sea breeze
If you prefer it saltier, head southeast: In Ses Salines, the “ArtinSal” begins today from 5:00 PM. About 80 exhibitions are spread across streets, squares and backyards. The townscape is different: white houses, sea scent in the air and small snack stalls serving Sobrasada bocadillos and tapas. Bands play in several places, DJs take over the plazas later – ideal if you want to combine art with a touch of nightlife.
Organizers have thought of everything: overview maps hang at the town hall, and volunteers help with orientation. If you come by bus, note the late connections; many lines run less frequently in the evening. For drivers: downtown parking fills up quickly, arriving early pays off.
A sweet finish or a Sunday full of sugarAnd a tip for sweet-tooths: In Esporles tomorrow begins the “Fira Dolça,” the great sweets fair. Some pastry chefs use Art Night to hand out samples – yes, that can be tempting. So if you’re planning an art tour tonight, maybe bring a reusable bag. You’ll need it.
In short: Both events have their own charm. Esporles scores with mountains, crafts proximity and a calm, almost ceremonial atmosphere. Ses Salines offers a larger, more open format with more acts and a hint of festival. I personally couldn't decide – so I do what I always do: first a round through Esporles, then a quick jump to the sea before the night really starts.
Practical details: Esporles starts at 6:00 PM today, Ses Salines at 5:00 PM. Both events run until late evening. Put on comfortable shoes, bring a little cash (some artists still don’t accept card terminals) and be open to small surprises – they’re guaranteed.
